From Lincolnshire and Back - Exhibition at The Majestic Studios in Stoke

"Sometimes artists just need the space to make, to challenge their working practice, to network and be inspired by others. From Lincolnshire and Back is about artists exchanging unfinished work with each other; relinquishing ownership and collaborating to create a finished piece." Carol Parker

This self funded project was initiated by Carol Parker, socially engaged artist and contributed to by artists across the UK. Including the new managers of the Majestic Studio's, artists Chris Reader and Andrew Cliff.

Last year I received a parcel of starting points for the project - photos of abandoned shoes - from Beth Barlow and so decided to continue looking out for shoes. 

My resulting piece is called the Map of Maybe, a stitched imaginary map of walks, a selection of shoe / walk photos on magnetic paper and magnetic poetry kit.

The idea was the photos and poetry letters could 

go on their own journey through a space -

the one flaw with this is you need metal 

surfaces to make this happen.

 So for the time being the work 

is contained on a small stand.

We were all asked to fill a strip of small pockets to represent our practice, you can see them all on the Pinterest link too. I feel that due to time, distance and other commitments, I was only able to stick my toe in the waters of this project but feel pleased that I made something. Many of the participants had a very rich, collaborative experience so do check out all their makings and doings on Pinterest or at The majestic Studios. REFractal Revisited July 2014

NN Project Space July 2014 Old Law Beacons Jo Dacombe, Kate Dyer and Carole Miles recreated elements of their sensory walk commissioned by Made in Corby and utilised Miles and Dacombe's INTenz n order to experiment with the wonderful light and space at NN Contemporary.

People played and created with our shiny pebbles, our mirrors and the light, wore our blindfold, listened to our sounds and talked about woodlands, the senses and personal connections with places.

We had some good interaction on social media also, both during the weekend and afterwards from people who came to visit. 

Friends of Delapre Abbey were extremely helpful, allowing us to make a connection between the park and N N Project Space

Preparing to be Transported

Last year Phiona Richards and I went on a creative adventure together as engagement artists for Transported Phase 1. 

This June and July we are heading out to Lincolnshire once more as The Eloquent Fold and we'll be two of the artists working on the Transported Open Book strand.

Our mornings will be spent working with the public making "A Flock of Words", which will result in a piece of work made by participants for Spalding, Crowland and Long Sutton Libraries. 

There will be a break for Cake and Conversation where we hope library users will join us and share their stories of home and away. Then during the afternoon Phiona and I will work on a collaborative piece "Crumbs From the Word Table" for each Library.

Bedford Happy Postcard

Bedford Happy is a town-wide artwork by Dan Thompson, in Bedford, December 2013-March 2014

I had the pleasure of meeting Dan briefly in the Transported Art Pop-up Shop in Boston and as I have been Artist in Residence at Priory Lower School, Bedford for about 8 years now, love mail art and postcard projects I thought this would be another mini project I could contribute to! It made me happy!

The postcards will be on display in the Bedford Happy research lab during Coffee With Art at Bedford Creative Arts on Saturday 29th March.

Visible Mending

Artist Carol Parker last year during the Transported Art ACE Creative People and Place Engagement Phase. 

I later spent a happy morning with Carol and Amy Lee at their self funded Pop-Up Shop Art on the High Street in Spalding which had no connection with Transported Art. 

Carol also has a shed (more than one I believe!) on an allotment and put out a call for artists / craftivists to visibly mend a postcard to be included in an exhibition in one of the sheds. With all those intersections I couldn't resist!

There is still time to add your work to the mix! Find out more here and there is a fab Pinterest board with all the postcards on display for your delight! This was another great project which was a joy to take part in - inclusive and embracing! It also got me back into my garden workspace which feels so good! Roll on Spring!
