Creativity has a vital role to play in society, particularly when life seems harsh, challenging or in a state of flux. Taking time to create together helps us to bond, gives time to think, dream, talk, laugh, share stories, learn new and transferrable skills. By using our creativity as a positive force we find new ways of moving forward or interacting with the world around us.
In my work as an artist in the community I thoroughly enjoy seeing people grow in confidence as they stretch their creative wings. I offer workshops involving a variety of art forms such as print making using a variety of techniques and have portable print making equipment including a press.
I work enjoy working with textiles, particularly donated or up-cycled fabrics to make community wall hangings, hats, bags, cushions etc. I have also created murals, up-cycling workshops, public mosaics, arts based public engagement activities, walking / wellbeing
projects.
I enjoy working within the community and have a long track record of
delivering projects, commissions and public artworks made in this context. I have experience in project management and am delighted to work with all ages and abilities. I have been the Resident Artist at Priory Lower School, Bedford since 2006. I had a studio within Beanfield Primary School, Corby from 2006 / 2012 and have been Lead Artist and Project Coordinator for Back To Books, a not for profit community organisation since 1995.
"It was my good fortune to begin working with Carole Miles 11 years ago when I began work for Corby Borough Council. At that time Arts Council England had already acknowledged Carole’s acumen for working across a range of art forms with the ability to translate these skills into inspirational participatory arts projects for young people and members of the community."
